We live in a world that loves boxes. A world that finds comfort in boxes. And discomfort in anyone who doesn’t fit in these boxes. We all must fit in boxes or be deemed unfit for a valuable and respectable life. This world’s obsession with people fitting in boxes is dangerous and unsettling. If you don’t fit neatly and completely in your assigned box, if you even slightly cross one of your boxes’ edges, you will be scorned. At least, by those who take boxes so seriously, and can’t understand or accept anything outside of them.
I’ve never been one to fit in boxes. Which means I get a lot of grief for the shittyiest of all reasons. I fit a little in a variety of boxes. But, I am a very dynamic person. People tend to be surprised when they see different sides to me. Which I find to be odd. I mean, did they think I was basic. A flat character. Does this describe them? So why are they so surprised that I have a personality, depth, different sides to me depending on what’s going on. I assume this describes most people. I’m a well rounded person. The traits that describe my goals, likes and dislikes, don’t fit neatly into any box. But it’s me. And that’s all that matters. Why do I have to be like anyone else? I’m not them. I’m not a copy or clone of them. I don’t see anyone trying to be like me. Mimic my personality, lifestyle, or beliefs. Nor do I go around trying to get anyone to do so.
